Dungeon a few years ago was awesome. Its gone now, but it was a great time 4 or 5 years ago.

I've been to Malediction a bunch, although I can't make it too often because I work early the next morning, and its a bit of a drive from OC. I used to DJ with Xian, who runs Malediction. It really is a kick ass club, and probably my favorite.

I'd like to see Siouxsie. I saw her last time she played, about 3 years ago. Good show. Kinda bittersweet memories for me. I've heard a bit of her newer material and its ok. I'll have to look into going, I know many of my friends will be going to the OC show, but I kinda want to see her in LA if she'll be playing out there.

Good to hear from you again!

I still need to check out the potluck at Echo Park. I think I might try to go this Thursday!

You go to Bar Sinister and Miss Kitty's, for some reason I didn't notice that in your "about me" section before. I go there too. Not very often though.

Did you ever go to Dungeon? I used to go there every weekend. Good times!

I saw that you're a member of the "Vegetarians Love the Environment Group." so I wanted to personally invite you to a new group I created called Veggie Cars

My goal is to simply field questions people may have and share my first hand experience in using biofuels.

Hi Michael! Do you ever go to the vegan happy hour in Echo Park?

I'm definitely looking forward to checking out the Echo Park potluck group. It sounds like a lot of fun!

I'd like to check out the Wildlife Waystation. I'm also a member of a Sierra Club group for people in their 20's & 30's and I was supposed to go on a hike there with them, but because of school I had to cancel.

As far as volunteering, I haven't had much chance to look into anything too extensively for the winter break, but I did just do a volunteer day at a local food bank a few weeks ago, and this past weekend I attended a benefit for a worldwide women's issues fund raiser at a yoga studio in Santa Monica. It pained me to see canned meat being given to the poor....I wanted to tell them how many more poor people could eat like kings if there were no meat industry!

I have my eye on doing something at Animal Acres, or a place along those lines. I've been kinda separated from animals for a while now, and I wouldn't mind reestablishing my connection with them.

It would be cool to see you at Echo Park, or even the Wildlife Waystation! I'd be interested in volunteering there as well.

Profile Information

Are you Vegetarian, Vegan or something else?

VEGETARIAN--For Now!

I went vegetarian when I was 9 (thanks to a good friend of mine and her family), then became vegan when I was 13.

At 21 I slowly began eating meat and continued to do so for the next 10 years.

This year, like awakening from a coma, I couldn't believe what I had been doing so I put a stop to that nasty habbit. I'm vegetarian now and will probably go vegan sometime in Spring or Summer of '08.

About Me:

My name is Michael
(not Yoda)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

YODA AT PEACHES:
"Yoda" is the name of my doggie and "Peaches" is the name of the Hollywood apartment building we live in (hence the picture of my dog sitting at the door step of our apt, AKA "Yoda At Peaches").

And NO, I'm not a Star Wars fanatic!

Yoda was rescued by a friend of mine who works for the Glendale Fire Department. She took him to her fire station and kept him there while trying to find his owners--he had no tags or collar. It was one of the Fire Fighters who named him Yoda (perhaps because his ears always stick up or maybe because this was back in 2002 and "Attack of the Clones" had just been released).

Currently I'm trying to train Yoda so that HE can volunteer at Kaisers Childrens Hospital down the street from us. Yoda will be able to visit with sick children who are hospital bound.

As for myself, well, I recently got a new job and like most people who live in Hollywood I too now work in television/movie industry. Aaahhhh, after all these years I too now belong in that box, what a Los Angeles cliché, ha!

I also started re-volunteering at The Wildlife Waystation in the Angeles National Forest here in SoCal. I used to help out for awhile a few years back. They are a nonprofit corporation that operates a unique 160 acre animal sanctuary with a two-fold mission:
To rescue, rehabilitate, relocate, and provide sanctuary to wild and exotic animals from around the world, as well as native wildlife.
To educate the public about the global plight of wildlife, especially near cities.

I've also become interested in protesting issues I disagree with and becoming more of an activist in general. Recently I've planted many trees and handed out PB&J sandwiches and veggie burritos. Yes I believe we can change our world one veggie meal at a time.

Generally I do not care how people choose to live their life but I do ask that they wake up and take responsibility for their actions. I realize that it's the smaller changes in our daily life which we could all make that will truly change our world. The smallest of actions are greater than the noblest of intentions!

I do not own a television, wait, that's not true, actually I do but since I have not turned it on in a long time I took it to my mom's place earlier this year along with my DVD and VCR players. Ha, yes I actually own one of those T-shirt that reads "Kill Your TV," although I don't wear it anymore.

I'd rather be in debt by spending my money backing live art than sitting at home watching T-Vo (which I've never used--the last time I subscribed to satellite/cable was in the 90s). I love the whole concert experience and would rather connect with an artist live. Battles, poetry readings and museums are personal fav's o' mine.

Oh, and I love to dance. One of my truly guilty pleasures for the longest time was Funky Sole at Star Shoes on Hollywood Blvd. I loved their mix of funky old school James Brown & friends to a delicious blend of Afro-Cuban beats. I'm also attracted to the darker underworld that LA has to offer. Bar Sinister is always fun and Miss Kitty's Parlour can make for a night of naughty entertainment.

On the other hand, I sometimes think there are too many (of the wrong) people in Los Angeles and would rather spend my Friday/Saturday nights at a great midnight movie (which sometimes actually don't start until 1am, grrr). In my personal opinion, full moons are the absolute best time to grab your doggie and head to the beach. There's lots of natural light w/o all the locals.

If you haven't figured it out by now, I am a very nocturnal animal.

All right, enough 'bout me...tell me somethin' interesting 'bout yourself!

VegHaven and Singlesnet.com

Wow, I haven't been on this site in over a year but I keep getting recent (annoying) email notifications from VegHaven to join Singlesnet.com.

I don't understand why VegHaven is so hell-bent. Is my personal info somehow being used without my permission?

So I'm listening to Sinead O'Connor right now and I am sooo exhasted.

I may be engulfed in fire and flames right now but once the smoke clears and the ashes settle this phoenix will rise once again!

I recently started a new job a few months ago and because I work on TV shows my work schedule is constantly changing, not only in the days and times but in the length of hours per day. A few weeks ago I worked 6 days a week and the last two weeks I've only worked 1 day each… Continue
