This is a little Highland calf. Her name is Jaffa. She was about three months old in the photo. Her Mother could not feed her so we hand reared her.
In trying to get her to feed off her mother the mother took to me and gave me a bruise to the back of my head a horn mark up my back and bruised ribs. I had to make the decision to take the calf off her. The calf needed to be tubed feed and we though that we would loose her. She is now doing well.

I haven't been there yet but I think the whole family's going to visit him next winter (summer for NZ). He tells me that vegetarian food down there is hard to come by and what you can find is outrageously expensive.
