- Are you Vegetarian, Vegan or something else?
- Vegetarian - I tend to cook my meals vegan, but I do occasionally eat humanely produced eggs and dairy.
- About Me:
- I woke up one morning from this awful dream, in which I was arguing with the decapitated head of a flesh eating zombie. I was holding the thing by the hair, spattered with blood, and standing in the ruined street of a burning city. The zombie's head was arguing for an essential right to its own nature (eat every living being in sight until nothing is left), and that I had no right myself to demand that its fellow zombies stop eating people.
I am a writer. I enjoy travel and am sporadically involved in various grassroots political movements. I find beauty in the philosophies of Buddhism, and hope for the future in the ideals of neo-paganism. I stopped driving this year for the same reasons I have remained a vegetarian for three years. The System needs us, and needs us to remain convinced that we need the System; the only way to kill it is to learn to live without it. When you were a child, what happened when you ceased to believe there was a monster in your closet?

I'm back, and planning to actually use this profile for some networking. Hopefully some interesting posts soon. I want at the least to start reviewing restaurants and reporting on political events in Austin.

Sleep dep is winning this fight tonight
I am considering going to the "Vegetarian Social" event Monday night. It's only ten bucks and I have never tried the speed dating thing before. Mostly I would just like to meet some new people while eating good food.

So what's my excuse?
My dad was laying there on the hospital bed, pale and weak, helpless with a ventilator down his throat, forced to say "I love you" with the little bit of Sign Language he knew. In a few hours a surgeon would be splitting his chest open to perform a quintuple bypass and I had no idea whether or not I would ever see him again. He was only fifty years old and this was his second heart attack.
