hi Nichole, my name is kim. I think I have seen you at cafemom, I too am a homeschooling/unschooling mom but of a soon to be 10 boy, a 7 year old girl and a 4 year old boy, I also was pregnant not to long ago and I have a baby boy almost 4 weeks old. I just found out about this website, and hope to help it get busy!
Hi Nichole, sorry it's taken me forever to write back! I hope you and the baby are doing wonderful! Since my last comment, I have researched homeschooling, and decided it was right for us as well, and I too lean towards the unschooling/relaxed method. I'm very excited for my daughter to have such great opportunities that I didn't have in public school. Also, big news, we're pregnant now too! I'm a little over 13 weeks! :D Hope to hear from you soon, and I hope you are doing well!
Hi Nichole, I found your vegan pregnancy group recently and joined. We're trying for baby #2. :D How is your pregnancy going? I also saw on your profile that you unschool? I'm interested in this, what is the concept, and what do you teach your daughter? I really hope I don't have to send mine to public school, but not sure if I'm able to homeschool. I need to look into the rules and such. Anyway, hope you're doing good! :)
We're vegan families living and thriving in North Texas. We'll have monthly potlucks the second Sunday of every month at someone's pet-free home or a park or other low-allergy location. All the families here have children who will be in attendance at the potlucks. Vegetarians are welcome, but only discussion of vegan topics is allowed on the board, and only vegan foods and drinks at our functions. In other words, we won't be discussing vegetarian recipes, though we may be discussing how to convert a vegetarian recipe into a vegan one.
It doesn't matter the reason why you became vegan... could be for health, the environment, or animals rights/welfare... our commonality is that we're all vegans (or are striving to be) and we all have kids.
I wish my sons were vegan; I am trying but it is not easy they are both teenagers somewhat set in their ways and their mother, grandmother and aunt all are not vegan. I am trying to learn more tasty recipes and I have decreased their dairy intake dramatically.
Hi thanks for the invite and congrats on raising your daughter
a vegan. It is always nice to see someone from Texas doing the right thing. Do they require or mandate you to give your children vaccinations in Texas?
I'm a pregnant homeschooling/unschooling mama of a rockin' 10-year-old vegan girl... in North Texas, of all places. Life is generally great. We love our free and vegan lifestyle.
