Moody is a very large breed of goose with wings that could potentially break a jaw. Geese are pretty strong and the neighborhood dogs and cats are absolutely petrified at the thought of approaching her. Thanks to this, she has been able to graze outside undisturbed. A cat once decided to climb into my yard, took one look at the giant, scary bird and ran off in a frenzy. She's got a pretty nasty temper. I have a friend who has had her goose, Willow, actually break her knuckle bones, and the goose was not even trying to harm her. Geese certainly undergo a lot of hormonal changes as they mature and their strength is quite obvious during this period of time to those unlucky enough to experience it.

I would love to go see the redwoods one day. Unfortunately, I'm trapped in the prairies of Canada. Saskatchewan, to be precise. It's absolutely devastating. When I look out to the skyline, though there is a lot of gorgeous sky, there are nearly no trees. The trees that are here are not native and have been planted by people. They're small and frail and often times do not thrive in this environment. I have not seen the green of trees for four months already, as we are in the middle of our arctic winter. I have not felt a warm sun on my back for the longest time. The emerald, hazy light of the sun streaming through the leaves of trees is but a distant memory. To me, the trees in their rest are more dead than asleep. All I see is their skeletons, lined up along our suburban streets. It depresses me, the mere thought of it.

In any case, this summer I will do everything I can to travel. I want to see the mountains, experience vast forests and camp in the wilderness. Those are some things I absolutely yearn for. I especially want to see some ravens. They are amazingly beautiful and remarkably intelligent creatures, and I have not seen one in person yet, despite my adoration for them. To make a long story short, I want to go North and West this summer--to me, that means British Columbia, with its amazing mountains and fruit trees and Northern Alberta, with its dense forests...

Sorry for rambling. I tend to go on and on about these sorts of things.

Hey Alex,

good hanging out on chat last night! LOTS of fun! Since we were talking about talkin about the band, it inspired me to dig thru some shows i hadn't listened to in a long time. prob 10 15 years i hadn't heard some of them. So i found pittsburg 4-3-89 second set and it rocks - drums are really great on this one. I love d/s and alot of tapes have lots of drums space cut, much to my chagrin.

You go to that show? You have the show? Brent broke out with Blow away to open and did some cool stuff at the end of it, wait a minute, but the band didn't stop, kept playing so he did his rap about love, " you want love you wanna put it into your fist and squeeze it tight, ... your heart is like a jail cell...." while the band kept playin on... it rocks, thanks for inspiring me to pull it out!

I saw that you're a member of the "Vegetarians Love the Environment Group." so I wanted to personally invite you to a new group I created called Veggie Cars

My goal is to simply field questions people may have and share my first hand experience in using biofuels.

Profile Information

Are you Vegetarian, Vegan or something else?
I've been Vegan since January 1, 2007. But I've been vegetarian since 1997.
About Me:
Not necessarily the typical vegan. I consider the environment to be more of my pet issue rather than animal rights. Then again, I don't really think you can separate the two issues so easily. It's all inter-related.
As for the other 98% of my personality that has nothing directly to do with my veganism- I'm a pretty mellow/quiet kind of guy. I relate well to trees, especially the tall ones.I like hiking and camping with my doggie, listening to music of a wide variety of genres, dancing, shooting hoops, and watching football. I teach special education at a small alternative high schol.

Take the pledge to Reduce your Carbon Emissions Footprint by 5%

Take the pledge to reduce your impact on global warming
by just 5% every year. It's not as hard as you might think. One thing, everyone here on veghaven is already doing. (see bold letters below :) I heard an interview with the man responsible for this project this morning, and he said that eating a meatless diet is the biggest thing you could possibly do to reduce your ecological footprint. Hooraay for us!

Here are some examples of other simple things you can do in your

This I believe

In my profile, I say that I'm not necessarily the typical vegan. I don't know that I'd necessarily identify myself as an animal rightist per say. Oh don't get me wrong. I am vegan. Of course I care about animals. Of course I'm disgusted by the horrors of factory farms. I don't see how anyone who opens their eyes to see what's really going on wouldn't be be disgusted. However, one problem that I have with the animal rights movement in general (and this doesn't apply to every individual who identi… Continue

The best argument against vegetarianism I've ever heard

Believe me, this argument is still wrong, and I'm going to crush it, however, it really beats the heck out of weak arguments such as "You don't get enough protein without meat" or "Animals were made for us to eat" or "God wants us to eat animals, it says so in the bible." But unlike those incredibly unintelligent and downright juvenile arguments, this argument is actually logic based, very well thought out, and very well researched. However, in my view it's still wrong..

The argument I… Continue
