What a very clear and succinct way of explaining veganism. When I tried to write about my reasons (on my myspace page), it took way longer. And I didn't even touch world hunger. Bravo!

Thanks, everyone. I should have referenced the site where I got most of my stats. Check out this link for more info.: http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/2062/argu.HTML

The page is titled "How to win an argument with a meat eater." : ) Happy reading!

I became a vegetarian to help heal our environment! I also feel better inside and out. Just knowing I'm doing all that I can to help the earth, being a vegetarian just made since to me and its easy!

I became a vegetarian for self-healing reasons. I had a really heinous break up for a relationship that totally changed who I was in a negative way. I gained a lot of weight, which really messed with my self esteem. When we broke up, I moved up to my mom's for a week while my vegan cousin was staying with her. I ate vegan all week and I lost 10 lbs. It felt GREAT. I had more energy, I was happier, my skin looked better, no negative affects at all. After the week, I did a lot of research on vegan vs. vegetarian and I decided I would rather be vegetarian. Mostly because I'm a broke college student and it's kind of expensive to be vegan. I've always been very nature-conscience, so it just seemed to fit with everything I already believed. Anyway, these days I eat fish very rarely. I've lost about 30 lbs in a year and a half, and that's without doing anything different than eating.

Huzzah!

I went vegetarian first of all at the beginning of May 07 after watching some videos that really made me think about what the poor defenceless animals go through. From that point i vowed never to eat meat again. I started looking into more things and after 2 weeks of being veggie, decided to take the step into veganism, and it's the best thing i've done! I'll never look back. When i'm not working or studying, i spend alot of my time spreading the word about veg(etari)anism. I hope to open other peoples eyes to what i had mine opened to!

congrats -fast track or what! its a pity those plants have to die in order for you to live especially after they made the air you breathe. theres gratitude for you. have you seen the website for people who live on sunlight? they claim not to have eaten for twenty years, well i dont know! do you? Is it possible that the person standing next to you is a creature of light?

Hi everyone. My name is Nicole. I live in GA and I am married to Keith. We have 3 boys together. I have been a vegetarian for almost 13 years. I originally became a vegetarian because I thought it was gross. Now I don't eat meat for health and ethical reasons.

whats stopping you going all the way and becoming vegan, i suceeded in giving up cheese after 25 years by substituting grated redy made polenta available at my asda walmart superstore

First of all, I am so jealous of that TREE!!! Even on myspace, I loved the tree.
Secondly, I became a vegetarian after hatching my own ducks & chicks for Christmas one year. They were such smart friendly birds, each one with its own personality...After research into factory farms, and how these animals were living, I realized that just because my parents taught me to eat meat, didn't make it right. I let each of my children make their own choice. After I presented them with an age appropriate debate, all 3 of my daughters 21, 16 & 10 stopped eating meat, drinking any milk from the stores, and only used eggs laid by my free range birds.

I honestly believe with all of my heart if each human being had to hatch & raise a chick, watch it grow, and then slaughter it, they would realize they are not nuggets and the would love them as much as I do. D.

my main problem is that while i believe i am moving up the spiritual ladder i am simultaneously moving down the food chain and am likely to become prey unless i achieve largeness., pretty quickly, hope the vitamins work.
