Hey Everyone! This is my first post so...I hope I'm doing this right...there's so many new buttons to play with...anywho...I became a vegetarian for health reasons, my body just works better with out meat gunking it all up! I'm still having a torrent affair with cheese, but besides that I eat pretty clean. After being veg for awhile I began opening up to animal welfare/rights issues and I am now second in command of a great campus animal rights group! I love going to protests and educating people about what they are really eating! I <3 vegetarians!

Well done!!!! There really is no excuse to consume animals and their products. I feel the same way you do.

I always felt a very intense connection to animals, all living things in fact. When I was younger i remember seeing trucks crammed full of chickens or cows on the highway, i knew what was about to happen to them. I usually say a prayer now when i see these thrucks on the road. I didn't become vegetarian until this past year when I did some reading and learned about the conditions of factory farms, it changed my life forever. I am now doing whatever I can to promote vegan/vegetarianism;)

Hi everyone. My names Autumn, I'm 21, a libra. I've been vegetarian for a little over 7 years now.

I grew up in Northern, NY..Growing up and in high school I was the only vegetarian I knew. I lived in TN for 2 1/2 years, from when I was 18 to almost 21.

I am vegetarian for health reasons and for animal rights.

Hi Autumn,
I am sure animals appreciate you do not eat them, but i believe if you believe in animal rights you should consider veganism as by drinking their milk and eating their eggs you are denying them rights. I truly hope this makes sense to you.
Welcome.....

It's so true that the animals suffer for years for someone to have seconds of pleasure when they eat them. I am so grateful that you are helping animals in so many ways: though being vegan, your activism, and your business-- way to go! :)

I became a vegetarian a year ago, for ethical reasons. I just read fast food nation & it grossed me out, in a bad way. I went to PETAs website and that was all she wrote. I'm working towards veganism, although it's tough feeding my family as they do not want to become vegetarians. I try to just be patient and supportive, which is all I can do.

I became a vegetarian when I received an e-mail from a friend on myspace asking me to take a 30 day pledge not to eat meat. Then she showed me a site about how animals where abused and etc. when I saw this I gave up meat ! That was it, I don't eat it anymore, don't miss it, and can't believe I never thought about this before. I think most people just don't want to know so they don't have to face what they are supporting and eating at the expense of the torture, pain, and death of defenseless animals! I found this site thru a bulletin by Real Men Don't Hurt Animals. I quit eatting meat and eggs about 9 months ago, and sooooo know I will never eat it again, I'm so glad I saw the video about the animals it truly changed by life!
Peace to You and yours.

Kim, you are so near veganism which is the cruelty free way of living. Please consider it.

I went vegan in stages---I stopped eating red meat and pork first about 12 years ago. Originally the plan was to be completely vegetarian--but I only ate cereal and wasn't getting nearly enough nutrients. So I started eating chicken, fish, and turkey. I continued that for about 6 more years. I couldn't eat chicken on the bone--and if anyone around me mentioned that it was once a living animal, I would cry and not be able to eat it anymore (at least for that day). I felt like such a hypocrite.. I was running a ferret rescue at the time and have always been animal lover...how could I be still eating meat? So I stopped. That was 6 years ago. I pretty much went vegan then because of factory farming cruelties. My one vice was donuts and candy bars on occasion. So 1 year ago, I decided that it was more important for me to become a full vegan than to eat a candy bar. And I haven't looked back since. After that, I learned about all of the animal byproducts in bath/body products--so I've been educating myself on this and only buying products that are cruelty free. I feel so good about myself now knowing that I am walking the walk and saving animals! :)

As a child it was a natural thing for me to eat all the vegetables and avoid any meat that my parents served us. I became vegetarian for the first time in my 30's. The first time as a vegetarian was for how revolting I found handling, cooking and eating meats. With a seriously carnivorous husband and small children...I slid back into meat eating.

*The second time was for the conditions of animals and the impact the raising of animals for food on the environment. That time I stopped because I was using cheese too heavily in my diet which aggravated my tendency for fibroids.

*The third time was the charm and both my children decided over 3 years ago to embrace the vegetarian lifestyle. For them it began as concern for animal conditions and the environment. For me? It is a simple preference and seeing animals as brothers and sisters.

I found my way here through my myspace and the Happy Vegetarian who sent a bulletin about this site.

I'm glad to be here.
