i have been a vegetarian for about 4 years, and vegan for about 3 months. i have been exercising very rgularly and dont necissarily think i eat poorly. but for some reason im having a really difficult time losing the last 5 or so pounds i need. does anyone have any dietary advice for a good healthy weightloss vegan plan?
I dont know what you have been eating but this is what has helped me-
eat only good carbs (no white flour, white rice, processed sugars)
drink green tea
flax and flax oil
no processed sugars
no trans fats
don't have more than one drink a day
eat only fruit in the morning, wait at least half an hour before eating anything else
thanks for the words of advice, i have been avoiding white flour as much as possible. i may be eating to much fuit at the wrong times of day. thank you for taking time out to help me i really appreciate it!!!
I agree with Big G. I would need more information. I am a fitness trainer and have a degree in exercise physiology. I have been vegan for over 6 years. What does your workouts include? I would recommend 45 minutes of cardio 4 to 6 days per week as well as weight training. Muscle IS metabolism. The more muscle mass you have, the higher your metabolism will be. Make sure your weight training includes all the major muscle groups and work your largest muscle groups first, smaller groups last ( Chest, Lats, Shoulders, Biceps, Triceps)
Stay away from processed foods as much as possible. avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup, all hydrogenated oils, and white processed foods. Whole grains like millet, quinoa, buckwheat and brown rice are wonderful. Don't worry about fruit, that won't hurt you, nor will veggies. Watch the fats, even the good fats. Keep fats around 20% of your total diet (20 fat calories per 100 calories of food) Sodium should not exceed the number of calories per serving if you eat packaged foods. Drinks lots of water to flush toxins from your system. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

thanks for the advice. i have been practicing brazilian jiu-jitsu for the last 3 years and have always competed at 150 lbs. now i would like to drop to 145 because i feel that will be a better weight for me. as far as my diet i eat alot of asian foods, and tend to use alot of soy sauce on my noodles. i do eat alot of carbs brown rice, potato, noodles etc.. i train cardio 3-5 times a week, and weight train about the same. im looking to be leaner as opposed to bulked up. thanks again
Soy sauce has a lot of sodium. Try to find a low sodium substitue or cut back on the amount you use. Asian food can be very healthy except for the fried food. You may be at the right weight at 150. Sounds like you are healthy and lean. It may not be easy to get to 145 and it may be difficult to maintain once you get there. See if there is a place near where you live where you can get your body fat tested.

I did a colon cleanse several years ago- blessedherbs.com
You did a five day juice fast along with the herbs. You should have seen what came out!! Yuck!! As Shrek is known to say "better out than in!" LOL. Anyway, it was actually quite easy and I have never fasted before. I had enough energy to work and do normal activities, but not enough to work out (I work out hard) All in all it was a good experience and I felt great afterward.
