Other than the ubiquitous, "Do you eat fish?" of course.
I think the one that took the cake for me was, "But if everyone stopped eating animals, we'd be overrun! What would we do with all those cows??" I'd heard about it before, but never actually encountered it. This person was dead serious. I couldn't decide whether to laugh in her face or throw something at her.
this is such an interesting question you ask! it reveals how completely dissociated people have become from the food they eat. some no doubt think that meat grows inside plastic.
A girlfriend was worried about me getting hurt, because I would be so weak. She said that if I got into a car accident, I would break bones and so I had to be careful. Uh, ok....
The question I've heard numerous times, and I'm sure you have too is:
"You aren't vegetarian because you care about animals, right?"
It's always spoken with that tone of "I can accept any other reason except that you care about animals". I always respond the same: 'every reason is a good reason to be vegetarian'.
the problem i think some people have with the ar issue is they want to look like they care for animals and eat them. they find it difficult to deal with those who realize that these two actions don't really go well together.
Chicken. Somehow, people don't think of chicken as meat. Seriously? Its an animal. But no, I always get the question "do you eat chicken?".
And another one is that by being vegetarian, we're actually ruining the world because we need so much soy that its going to ruin all our soil. Again....what? You just don't monocrop. Its as easy as that. Sigh.
Couple of things I have heard is ' you will waste away to nothing' and the other was 'veggie girls can be sexy, but veggie or vegan men are just gay!'..the last one was my ex (for obvious reasons) ;0)
