I do. I can't carry a tune in a bucket but he doesn't care. Our favorite time is in the morning, when we wake up and cuddle. I massage him all over (he also knows the names of all his body parts) and sing "You Are My Sunshine" to him.

My little one's love it when I sing to them! Especially if I make up songs with their names in it. They always greet me when I get out of the shower because that is when I am most likely to strike up a tune for them. It's great for all of us because it reminds me to be like a child. You know how kids will just sing about whatever it is they are doing? If my nieghbors can hear me I'm sure they hate me! But my little ones really love it. I get a lot of tail hugs and sometimes stretches with nail digs in my bare flesh (ouch!) for applause. They even have a song for us. It goes, "Mom mom mom" I swear to God. See my thread on animal communication. We put them on the spot once and that is what they came up with. :)

Ooo, what a great topic! I sing to lots of animals. but definitely to my animal companions (can I encourage us to avoid the word 'pet'? It's implication of ownership make many uncomfortable...)

The deer love it when I sing to them, they're mesmerised by songs that reach the higher register. Geese love it too. My dog Melody died in my arms 6 yrs ago while I was singing "Bhajamana Ma" to her (translation "Oh mind, chant Mother" ~ as in the Divine Mother). I used to sign that to her as well as my 2 girl kitties, I would substitute their names in place of the different names of the Divine Mother, they loved it! I'm a devotional singer...

PS Tresa, buckets are not really meant for carrying tunes... ;-)

ohhh i love this. yes, i do. i originally used to sing a little of everything to my oldest, especially though the song after the goddess she's named for, rhiannon. though i spell my baby's name a bit different (rhiexaghgnonn), it is pronounced the same. i made up a little song for her quite a while ago doesn't really have a name, it's short and simple, but we'll just call it "nigh....night rhiexaghgnonn". that's all i really say in it anyway. but every time, it doesn't matter what she's doing, everytime i sing it, when i get to a particular point in the song, near the end, she yawns. if she hasn't already she'll lay down, and sometimes even close her eyes. sometimes she'll stay there and go to sleep (depends on what she was doing before i started singing it). if she was sleepy, and it's quiet she'll sleep. but if she was up playing or running around or something, she'll stop while i sing it sometimes go as far as laying down, sometimes she'll just stand stare at me and yawn. soon as it's done she'll jump back up and start running around. it is soo funny and so adorable. ;> i love it!!:} i have had boscorelli (bosco) for a while too, i haven't really settled on one particular song for him yet, i make a bunch of diffferent little ones. i don't know why one hasn't settled yet, it just hasn't come to me yet, it will though. but even when he hears "nigh...night rhiexaghgnonn" he starts yawning and sometimes lays down too. sometimes i'll just make up a bunch of little different songs for both of them. it doesn't matter though as long as they know i'm singing to them, they're happy (though we do know for sure rhiexaghgnonn has her favorite). as long as they're happy, i'm happy:)

I play guitar for my 6 year old puppy. She lays right in front of the speaker and just watches me play - we are in love with each other!

Ising to my baby boy Casey (kitty) but he usually hates it! One time I was singing to him and he looked up so intently at me that I thought he liked it...untill he smacked me with his paw right across the face :/ guess I should stop singing...

i holla at 'my' two dogs when they bark loudly shuuuuuuduuuuuup (or start fighting) their sisters by the way, from the same litte,r and as they get older they tend to argue a bit more frequently, although somehow manage not to inflict any serious damage on one another,(suppose in the wild theyed have gone their separate ways) i didnt want to get 1 dog as i think animals like the company fof their own species. (must admit the cat is a bit vibbed out at times) friends occasionally come to visit only to be greeted with a dogfight in the hallway, thanks pups :) (their 6 yeasrs now but i still call them pups, cause they always will be to me)
i will try to take on boared what has been said here and pledge to sing happy birthday to them at least once a year.
many thanks,.
and of coarse ill try to give em a rendition of jingle bells over the festive period.

Ooooh I sing to my cats...but they just look at me like I'm a mad hatter! I used to sing to my horse when we were out riding- although I always expected some funny looks from farmers working out in the fields.

As a hobby, I write songs. So my cat is usually the first audience I have when I practice singing my songs. I can sing on-key even though I'm not sure how good my voice sounds. My cat has headed to the door and tried to get out of the room on a few of those songs. Guess I should try to improve on those songs. So far, I'm the only one who sings to their cat in my family. My cat is one of the most spoiled animals of the house.

That's so sweet! I love "U are my Sunshine," it's my favorite! I sing, "Your my Little Tea Cup," to my shorty Jack Russell (they have shorter legs than normal.) Because then I can say, "short and stout, when you get excited, you whine and pout, pick you up, and kiss your snout!" LoL He's my little baby

i play the violin and the two dogs sing along. someone suggested they sing in protest, but i don't think that is true. i find they sing when i play well and don't when i don't, so the suggestion must be false.

in friendship,
prad
