Just saw an add online for the gordon ramsey show 'the F word'..one part of it tonight is about him cooking veal 'for vegetarians who are keen to try meat again'. Now I know i'm not the strictest of veggies out there as you know but even growing up in a meat eating family, we were never allowed veal. Although eating meat is still basically taking a life there seems something even worse about taking a child from its mother and killing it before its even had a taste of 'life'.
What group of veggies did they get for this show? I couldnt bring myself to watch it knowing that on these programmes now they do such things as cutting animals throats live so they can up the ratings. I think the whole thing of shock culture now is out of hand and so so sad.
"What group of veggies did they get for this show? "......exactly! what the hell are these people thinking?!?! how can you go from anti-cruelty to eating, what i feel, is the most heartbreaking "meat" there is. sad sad sad. man i used to like watching Nightmare Kitchens with Mr. Ramsey now I'm kind of rethinking that.
Probably veggies who have jumped on the bandwagon for five minutes. People are so very fickle (or am I just cynical?) ..like the whole thing now of celebs going on about f**ing carbon foorprints...I can see lots of people sitting there nodding their heads in agreement because Madonna or Bob Geldof has said its important..you know it wont last..its a fad for the bulk of the public and a boost for publicity for those who need it.
On what you said about 'Nightmare Kitchens', I watched a few of those..yeah they could be funny because of the swearing but if you know what brits are like, we are a nation who tend to swear an awful lot (if your a commoner like me that is lol)..so my point is; swearing and shouting at people may entertain for a short while but soon that wears thin and then you need to get a bit more shocking. So what happened then is that another bloke and Jamie Olliver started doing programmes about what goes on in factory farming although what I saw of one of these shows was portrayed in a fairly nice type fashion (ie not like 'meet your meat')..a chicken was killed on the show in a quick way, everyone in the audience looked a tiny bit shocked for a moment and then you could almost read their minds..it was like 'ooh we have experienced the death of an animal first hand, lets pretend we are prehistoric hunters'. I wonder after leaving that show and spouting a bit of bullsh*t to their mates, how many went to be vegetarian?' Bugger all I reckon...anyway getting back to the point..now there seems to be a glut of shows all having animals killed on them. The presenters say it is to educate people on how things work, I personally think its ratings..still think im cynical?? :0)
Exactly Gemma..proves me right that its about ratings if their showing the gory bits during ads...should it be allowed though what with kids watching tv??
Good girl! Im sure the show started about 9pm so lots of kids would have the opportunity to see the ad and even the programme itself! Ofcom are useless b***ards..im sure they let things slip through accidentally/on purpose and then after when they get complaints then they decide to 'apologise'....
